LESSONS

WHAT PLATFORM IS USED FOR ONLINE LESSONS?

1

Lessons are held on Google Meet using screen sharing and interactive chess boards. This allows coaches and students to analyse positions, solve puzzles, review games, and work together just as effectively as in person.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A TYPICAL LESSON?

2

Sessions may include game analysis, tactical training, opening preparation, endgame study, strategic concepts, sparring games, and practical advice to help you improve.

CAN LESSONS BE TAILORED TO MY GOALS?

3

Absolutely. Whether you want to improve your online rating, prepare for tournaments, build confidence, or simply enjoy chess more, your coach will create lessons that suit your individual goals.

How OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE LESSONS?

4

Most students choose weekly lessons, as this provides consistent progress. However, fortnightly or more regular schedules can also work depending on your availability and goals.

PARENTS

What skills will my child develop through chess?

1

Alongside improving their chess ability, students develop concentration, critical thinking, decision-making, resilience, and problem-solving skills that can benefit them beyond the chessboard.

Do parents need to be present during lessons?

2

For younger children, we encourage parents to be nearby, especially during the first lesson. Older students are usually comfortable working independently, but parents are always welcome to check in.

Can you help my child use online chess platforms safely?

3

Yes. We can recommend trusted chess platforms and guide parents through features such as parental controls, privacy settings, and account safety to help children enjoy chess securely online.

how will i know if my child is making progress?

4

Our coaches regularly monitor each student's development through lesson activities, game reviews, and personal goals. We're always happy to provide feedback and discuss your child's progress.

How much do lessons cost, and how do payments work?

1

Our lesson prices can be found here. At the end of each month, you'll receive an invoice, and payment can be made conveniently by bank transfer.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule a lesson?

2

We understand that plans can change. If you let us know at least 24 hours in advance, we'll be happy to reschedule your lesson where possible. Unfortunately, cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may still be charged.

Do you offer discounts or referral schemes?

3

Yes! If you refer a new student to ChessLeap and they complete two lessons, you'll receive one lesson completely free as a thank you.
